Congressional Bank Classic Makes Donation to Greenleaf Recreation Center
Washington , D.C. - October 15, 2009 – The DC Department of Parks and Recreation announced today that the organizers of the Congressional Bank Baseball and Softball Classics, the DC High School Baseball Classic, Inc. (DCHSBC), made a donation of baseball and softball equipment to the Department of Parks and Recreation at a ceremony held at the Greenleaf Recreation Center.

Washington, DC. - April 6, 2010 – At the 2010 'Batter-up" reception, John Lane, President and CEO of Congressional Bank, presented the Founder's Awards for dedication and outstanding effort in supporting youth baseball and softball in the Disrict of Columbia to John McCarthy and Diane Thomas. Mr. McCarthy, aka "Coach Mac", is the Director of Home Run Baseball Camp. Ms. Thomas is the Director of Community Relations for the Greater Washington Sports Alliance.

Washington, D.C. - May 27, 2012 - William Hall, Chair of Events DC, tossed out the opening pitch at the 2012 DC Baseball Classic. Maret won its first Classic Championship with a 6-5 victory over Wilson.
DC High School Baseball Classic Names Bob Haldeman and Ed Abramson as 2012 Henry Champ Founder's Award Recipients
Washington, D.C. - March 12, 2012 - At the 2012 DCHSBC Batter Up! Reception, Mark Whitener, Chairman of the DC High School Baseball Classic, Inc., accompanied by Mayor Vincent Gray, presented the 2012 Henry Champ Founders' Awards for dedication and outstanding effort in supporting youth baseball and softball in the District of Columbia to Mr. Robert Haldeman and Mr. Edward Abramson. Bob Haldeman, aka DC's "Mr. Baseball," is the Director of Athletic Programs Administration for the DC Department of Parks and Recreation, having been with DPR for over 40 years. Eddie Abramson is a long time softball coach and leader in the Cap Cities Little League program. Eddie is also the recipient fo the 2007 Polin Award for communicy Service.
Each year the DC High School Baseball Classic, Inc. recognizes individuals from the city that have made significant contributions to the youth of the District through their tireless work in baseball and softball programs. The awards are named after Mr. Henry Champ, the founding Chair of the DC High School Baseball Classic.
